Overview
Canoe Canada was established in 1974 on a personal service basis so that Bud and Jim could share their knowledge of the Quetico wilderness country with outdoor enthusiasts seeking real adventure and security in the knowledge of excellent equipment and careful planning. Ultra light equipment, excellent trail food and the wilderness experience of your outfitter are the essential requirements for a successful trip. They are float plane equipped and can reach you quickly should an emergency arise while you are on your trip. Canoe Canada’s commitment to quality and the wilderness experience makes Canoe Canada's service unique. And from the first confirmation of your reservation to the detailed trip routing with you at the outfitting lodge, all of the people at Canoe Canada will give your trip individual attention.
Quetico is the Canadian side of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. It covers 4,800 square kilometers of untouched wilderness in Northern Ontario's Pre-Cambrian shield rock forest. No hunting, roads, or development of any kind are allowed and firearms are prohibited. Even motorized boats are banned from the park, so you can travel by canoe through a truly remote wilderness.
Quetico enjoys an international reputation as a canoeing wilderness without equal. While multiple use recreational areas like Algonquin and the BWCA are easier to reach from large urban centers, Quetico's wilderness classification, it's isolation and limited travel permits help to protect and preserve this wild landscape. Enjoy the freedom of exploring 4,800 square kilometers of 'drinking water pure lakes' in the Arctic Watershed.
Canoe Canada’s menus have evolved over years of experience based on the best modern trail foods available. A nourishing variety of freeze-dried and fresh meals are custom packed for you. The result is an organized food pack that's delicious, easy to use and lightweight. Confident in your ultra light outfitting and the preparation, you will leave civilization far behind and paddle into an adventure filled world where time stands still. There is nothing quite like the thrill of fishing for your dinner, taking a bath in a wilderness lake, or relaxing around the campfire while the sun sets and the loons cry across the water. Canoe Canada also has complete vegetarian trail menus. And, for longer trips and paddlers looking for more variety, many additional Richmoor freeze-dried entrées are available.
In addition to Canoe Canada’s store and outfitting complex, its parking, shower rooms, locker and vault facilities are always available to guests.
