Overview
Canoe Arctic has offered fly-in canoe trips since 1974 in the Barren Lands (mainland tundra) of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut in Canada's Arctic, west of Hudson Bay. Paddle the most remote rivers in the world, deep in the heart of the largest wilderness left in North America. Explore the Thelon River and other pristine tundra rivers hundreds of miles from the nearest road or community.
The teeming wildlife here includes muskoxen, white wolves (Canoe Arctic's specialty), moose, grizzlies, and caribou herds that stretch to the horizons. The region features warm, dry summers; gin-clear rivers; green tundra hills blanketed with tiny wildflowers; huge spruce-studded eskers; some of the best sand beaches on the planet; birds everywhere; and virgin fishing.
All canoe trips (11-13 days) are guided by Alex Hall, wildlife biologist and the Canadian Arctic's first and most experienced canoeing guide. Trips accommodate all levels of canoeing experience. A brochure is available on Canoe Arctic's website or you can request a paper brochure and full details on any of the canoe trips scheduled for next summer.
