In 1978 I got a summer job working as a river guide. It was exciting work. Meeting great people, running rapids, sleeping under the stars. On the river, dynamic things could happen. Magical things. It was tremendously fulfilling.
So I decided to start my own company and continue sharing in my own way. From the beginning, my goal was to provide an uncommon level of personal service. It was easy those first years as myself and my wife Betsy led every trip. People who traveled with us enjoyed our hospitality and the enriching experience we provided. They came back for more and brought their friends.
As ROW grew, we listened carefully to our guides and guests. Blending the best of their ideas with our own is what makes ROW different than all other adventure travel companies. Ideas that have improved our trips and refined our philosophy. A philosophy that puts the safety and enjoyment of our guests above all else and recognizes that not only are you our most important source of energy and inspiration, but also that without you, there would be no ROW.
Along the way, we've found that in order to keep the adventure alive for you, we need to keep it alive in ourselves. This has led us to new rivers, activities and destinations. From a humble beginning with trips on two rivers, we now offer trips on more than eight rivers and activities around the world.
Whether you're looking for a wilderness rafting or walking trip in Idaho, an adventure in the rainforests of the Amazon basin, a yachting trip along the coast of Turkey or a barging trip in France, we hope you'll join us. For although we've grown, we still offer the same quality of personal service and warm hospitality that has always been our hallmark.
