Over one million acres in size, the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW) contains hundreds of lakes and rivers, has 1200 miles of canoe routes, and is home to many threatened and endangered species. The canoe country offers primitive forest dominated by lakes and streams full of pure drinking water, all interconnected, inviting you to come within, to explore, and enjoy. Paddle these endless lakes by canoe under your own power. Enjoy the challenge and break of pace offered by overland portages that take you to the wonder of yet another unfamiliar lake. A canoe trip is a “getting away from it all”, a sudden absence of pressure, a melding with nature, solitude, the cry of the loon, a refreshing swim, and the welcome smell of a campfire. Canoe the same routes traveled by the famous voyageurs of centuries past, over the interlacing lakes where, even today, there are no roads, aircraft, private or commercial development. Camp each evening on the lake of your choice and cook over an open fire. Freshly caught fish are delicious on the trail. Sleep will comes easy, snug in your sleeping bag inside a waterproof tent with the lapping of waves on shore and the whisper of the wind rustling tall pines. If you’re a beginner or an experience canoeist, if you are with family, friends, couples, business associates, or youth groups, everyone may enjoy the canoe country. Let Superior-North help you plan a unique adventure vacation of a lifetime.
